Low-emission zones in Denmark
Diesel cars need a particulate filter or at least Euro 5 to enter Danish miljøzoner. Older vehicles registered abroad may also need their emissions details registered.
Cities with low-emission zones
All five cities have diesel low-emission zones. Each detail page links to the official boundary map.
Vehicles covered
Diesel cars and minibuses must have a particulate filter or meet at least Euro 5. Petrol cars are not subject to this diesel restriction.
For vans, buses, lorries and motorhomes, use the vehicle category recorded in the documents. Heavy-vehicle requirements differ from the passenger-car standard.
Registering a foreign vehicle
The obligation depends on vehicle category and first registration date. For foreign cars and minibuses up to 3.5 tonnes, check vehicles first registered before 1 January 2011: an older compliant vehicle may still need its details documented.
Complete any required registration no later than the day of entry. Have the registration certificate and evidence of the Euro standard or approved filter ready. Keep the confirmation and check the registration number.
No physical sticker
Cameras check registration plates and vehicle records. A missing registration can therefore matter even when a filter is fitted.
Check any expressly exempt transit roads on the official map. An exemption applying to a road in one Danish zone does not establish an exemption for a different route.
