Milan postponed selected motorcycle and moped restrictions in Area B and Area C until 1 October 2027. This is not general permission for an older diesel car to enter.

What the city announced

The official announcement of 12 February 2026 and subsequent order No. 373 of 17 February 2026 concern specified two-wheeler categories: two-stroke Euro 2 and Euro 3 motorcycles and mopeds; diesel Euro 2 and Euro 3 motorcycles and mopeds; and four-stroke petrol Euro 0, Euro 1 and Euro 2 motorcycles and mopeds.

The same Euro number on a passenger car does not place it within that postponement.

Passenger cars still need an eligibility check

Check the fuel, Euro standard and current restriction calendar for the relevant area. Use Milan’s official checker with the registration number and country. A change for one category does not abolish Area B or Area C.

Large vans and buses can have additional requirements linked to dimensions, use or category.

Area B and Area C are separate schemes

Area B is a large access-restriction area. Central Area C covers Cerchia dei Bastioni and combines eligibility with charging. An ordinary Area C ticket is not an exemption from an emissions ban.

The city describes Area C operation on working days Monday to Friday, 07:30–19:30, excluding public holidays. Check the ticket conditions and any other restriction for the trip.

Before travelling

Identify the precise vehicle category and engine, find its emissions standard in the official calendar, establish which area the route enters, and check activation and validity of any ticket or exemption. See the Italian guide.
